Dating for the Single Man or Woman
Dating is a universal activity that occupies the minds of men and women across the world. You never know when you are going to finally meet someone that really impacts you, making this past time more than just a way to get out on the town. So, what can you do to be more successful at meeting, dating, and really getting to know someone? These tips will help you make the most of the dating scene, so that you aren’t ever left wondering what went wrong.
Listen, Listen, Listen
Dating is based on learning more about another person, making it vital to really listen to what they are saying. While you don’t want to be stuck listening to someone go on and on about their job or home life, you do want to be sure that you don’t interrupt and that you give your date some feedback on the things that they choose to tell you. This is especially important on the first few dates, when you are really figuring out what makes your date tick. One aspect of dating that is particularly important is disclosure, when your date tells you personal information.
Typically, disclosure refers to talking about intimate subjects, whether it is sex, childhood, or even finances. When you are dating, one disclosure from your date usually means that they expect you to share something intimate, as well. Disclosure shouldn’t happen immediately, especially concerning sex, unless your date brings the subject up and you are also comfortable discussing your views. Even though we are lucky enough to live in a decade where sex is an easily approachable subject, there is no need to rush into the conversation unless you are ready!
Flirting and Body Language
If you are one of the millions of people who have been on a date, and never heard from the other person again, then you probably want to know what went wrong. One of the things that you can do during a date to see how the other person is feeling about you is to watch their body language. Body language is a clear indicator of whether or not someone is into you, and can give you a heads up if you should or shouldn’t be waiting on a call.
If your date is having a good time, thinks you are cute, or wants to know more about you, then you can clearly see these signs in their body language. They will lean toward you, listen intently, and meet your eyes when speaking. If they aren’t so excited about the date, then you will see the opposite signs. Your date will probably lean away from you, and won’t be as engaged in the conversation as you had hoped.
Intimate Dating
Once you have gotten to know someone you are compatible with, your dating life will naturally evolve into an intimate relationship. Each relationship is unique; so don’t bother taking the time to compare a past relationship to a present one. You and your partner will each bring something new into the relationship, so enjoy the change of pace and each new encounter. Don’t forget that you are still dating, however. One of the most common mistakes that men and women make when involved in a long term dating relationship is that they stop, or forget about, the romance factor.
Romance and dating go hand in hand. Now is the time to enjoy long walks on the beach, late dinners, laying under the stars and buying your partner special gifts. Not only do intimate environments allow you and your partner to feel more comfortable with each other, they also can set the mood for awesome intimate encounters later in the evening!
